Summit Professional Education works with national and state boards and associations to provide continuing education for health care professionals. Following is a list of health care professions, professional boards and associations with whom Summit Professional Education partners to meet your continuing education needs.
NATIONAL and PROFESSIONAL PROVIDERSHIPS
PHYSICAL THERAPISTS – Since all physical therapy approvals are currently on a state by state basis Summit Professional Education submits to appropriate state boards or APTA chapters for approval as required. Summit courses are rigorously developed to meet accepted standards for continuing competence activities for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. Currently 34 states either do not require pre-approval or accept the approvals of other state licensing boards or APTA chapters. Summit also holds providerships in KY and NY.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS – Summit Professional Education is an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Approved Provider of continuing education. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA – Provider #5873. This covers both OTs and OTAs. Summit holds a providership in FL and obtains approval for NM.
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS and AUDIOLOGISTS – Summit Professional Education is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. Appropriate programs are registered with ASHA and their brochures carry the ASHA Brand Block inside (Intermediate level, Professional or Related Areas). ASHA participant forms are available at the sign-in sign-out tables at ASHA-registered seminars.
EDUCATORS – Most state Departments of Education grant local boards jurisdiction over professional development plans and continuing education approval. Educators should contact your local district offices to find out your state or district approval process. In most instances the workshop’s marketing brochure contains the information necessary for review and approval – additional information can be obtained upon request from Summit’s continuing education department. Additionally Summit Professional Education is pre-approved in IL, NJ, PA (ACT 48), and TX to offer credits to teachers and obtains approvals in MT and WA (clock hours).
NURSING HOME AND LONG-TERM CARE ADMINISTRATORS – Summit Professional Education is a Certified Sponsor of professional continuing education with the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) and has approved relevant programs for clock hours. Specific course approvals are contained in the marketing brochures (or upon request) along with the NAB issued approval number. State licensure boards have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses.
PSYCHOLOGISTS – Summit Professional Education is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists, provider #1940. Summit Professional Education maintains responsibility for programs and their content.
NURSES – Summit Professional Education submits appropriate courses for approval to the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). Summit carries state level providerships in CA and FL (Iowa is excepted).
SOCIAL WORKERS – Summit Professional Education, provider # 1201, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Summit Professional Education maintains responsibility for programs. Summit also holds state level providerships in CA, FL and OH.
PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS – Summit Professional Education is a National Board for Certified Counselor-approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) #6357 and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for programs that meet NBCC requirements. Summit Professional Education is solely responsible for all aspects of these programs. Summit holds state level providerships in CA and FL and obtains approval for individual courses in OH.
ATHLETIC TRAINERS – Summit Professional Education is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer category A continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers. Certified Athletic trainers are responsible for claiming only those hours actually spent participating in the continuing education activity. Summit posts each individual workshop onto the BOC on-line calendar for your convenience. BOC Approved Provider Number: P3785.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACHES – Appropriate workshops has been pre-approved by the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification Commission (CSCS) according to guidelines set forth by the NSCA Certification Executive Council, provider # 11059. Look for approval information inside and the NSCA CEU logo on the outside of our marketing brochures.
CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINERS – Appropriate workshops has been pre-approved by the National Certified Personal Trainer Certification Commission (NSCA-CPT) according to guidelines set forth by the NSCA Certification Executive Council, provider # 11059. Look for approval information inside and the NSCA CEU logo on the outside of our marketing brochures.
KINESIOTHERAPISTS – Appropriate rehab and injury prevention courses have been approved by the Continuing Competency Board for Kinesiotherapy as meeting the professional development requirements of the Council on Professional Standards for Kinesiotherapy (COPS-KT).
CERTIFIED HAND THERAPISTS – Appropriate rehab and injury prevention courses are offered for either Category A, Formal Courses in Upper Quarter Therapy, hand therapy education or Category C, Formal Courses with General OT or PT Content, hand therapy education.
ADDICTION PROFESSIONALS – Summit Professional Education is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, provider #701. Our programs meet nationally approved standards developed fort the alcoholism and drug abuse counseling field.
MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPISTS – Many state social work licensing boards recognize our American Psychological Association (APA) and/or National Board for Certified Counselor (NBCC) providerships and grant continuing education credits. Check with your state board to see if a seminar meets your state’s requirements.
