Patsy S. Dunson CPC, CPMA, CHP, is certified as a Professional Coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), is a Certified Practice Medical Auditor and a Certified HIPAA Compliance Professional (CHP) with over 15 years of experience in coding, analyzing and auditing medical records. She is the Allied Health Program Director at The Medical Institute of Kentucky. She specializes in reimbursement optimization strategies through superior knowledge of the Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare HMO, and Third Party regulations and has developed and implemented successful training programs for business colleges and career development centers.
Ms. Dunson has more than 25 years experience in healthcare across very diverse settings as a nurse, a quality control analyst, a compliance auditor, and as a coding instructor for multiple educational facilities where she taught medical coding, medical terminology and medical record auditing. She is an experienced program developer who has produced and presented training courses and seminars nationally to physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare professional teams on such topics as ICD-9-CM, HCPCS, CPT, RUGS, CCI, RVU, Medicare, and third party aging.
Ms. Dunson attended both Central Kentucky Vocational and Eastern Kentucky University where she completed her nursing studies. She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders and the American Association of Medical Audit Specialists.
