According to \u201cA Comprehensive Review of Mechanical Circulatory Support Devices\u201d (Atti etal 2022) more than 2000 MCS devices were implanted and according to \u201cExtracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome\u201d (Peeler et al 2021) ECMO runs in the US increased from 92 cases in 2008 to 3,133 in 2019. The use of these devices is for the bridge to recover to transplant. Knowledge of these devices, their implications, and their impacts with therapy is vital during the immediate therapy course as well as for any post-hospitalization course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits to Watching:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Immediately improve your understanding of, indications for, and therapy implications related to <strong>Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Devices being frequently utilized in today\u2019s ICUs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Increase your knowledge and assessment of the individual <strong>MCS device parameters impacted by and to be monitored during therapy interventions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Angela Henning, PT, Cert MDT, CCS, CFPS<\/strong> received a BS in BIO from Centre College in 2000 and a BHsc with masters of PT from the University of Kentucky in 2003. She serves as APTA-KY Eastern District Chair, the Academy of Education CE SIG Clinical Co-Chair, and the Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Ethics Liaison.\u00a0 She has clinical experience with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations in outpatient, acute care, ICU units, and specialty clinic units.\u00a0 She received her cardiovascular and pulmonary clinical specialist from ABPTS in 2019.
