Each year, 65 million Americans report experiencing low back pain, 32 million experience osteoarthritis, 3 million older adults are treated for falls, and 25 million Americans live with chronic pain. Others, deal with pulmonary health conditions, physical loss of function, immune compromise, and debilitating anxiety and depression. All of this ends up costing Americans trillions of dollars in medical bills each year. Current research reveals the broad ineffectiveness of long-term pharmaceutical approaches and strongly suggests that successfully treating the multifactorial nature of chronic conditions requires an integrative, holistic approach. Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese exercise method, requiring no special equipment and shown to improve cognitive skills, memory, psychological wellness, strength, flexibility, immune function, and balance; and is now being advocated by the CDC and Harvard Medical School for fall prevention and functional improvement programs.
Tai Chi, which is typified by slow, graceful movements and coordinated breathing has been shown repeatedly in health-related research to enhance physical function, breath capacity, and cardiovascular endurance. It also improves emotional and psychological well-being in people suffering with pulmonary conditions. More than just a movement practice, Tai Chi is also steeped in an ancient philosophy advocating balance and harmony in all areas of life. Tai Chi is a widely recognized mind-body modality and non-pharmacological approach in treating chronic pain conditions. This highly insightful certification has been designed to outline the scientific and physiologic basis of key rehabilitative Tai Chi concepts shown to be effective in remediating neck, shoulder, back and knee pain and dysfunction, and to review the evidence base for validating rehabilitative Tai Chi in the treatment of patients dealing with balance, chronic pain, and pulmonary conditions. Following this certification, professionals will have not only a new tool in their toolbox, but also a powerful new way to empower their clients to help heal themselves.

The Georgetown University Health Policy Institute reports that 65 million Americans report experiencing low back pain, while health economists estimate that the cost of chronic pain in the United States is $635 billion annually. Back pain is the leading cause of lost work days and has a high correlation to feelings of emotional distress. Current research is revealing the broad ineffectiveness of long-term pharmaceutical approaches and strongly suggests that successfully treating the multifactorial nature of chronic back pain requires an integrative, holistic approach.
Tai Chi is a widely recognized mind-body modality and non-pharmacological approach in treating chronic pain conditions. This highly insightful 2-hour course has been designed to outline the scientific and physiologic basis of key rehabilitative Tai Chi components, to instruct simple Tai Chi practices shown to be effective in remediating back pain anddysfunction, and to review the evidence base for validating rehabilitative Tai Chi in the treatment of patients dealing with chronic back pain.

Statistics report that over 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain with $90 billion spent annually on spine pain alone, which is known to have several contributing factors including muscular imbalances, myofascial tensions, core muscle weakness, adverse psychological stress, anxiety, and depression. Spine pain is a concomitant factor in fall risk, chronic diseases, elevated comorbidities, and poor rehabilitation outcomes making it a multidimensional issue requiring holistic solutions and today's most valuable rehabilitation professionals must have the knowledge and capability to leverage multidimensional aspects of their client's experience to engender faster and more complete results.
This course will give participants practical body-mind assessments and effective, holistic core strengthening strategies that can be immediately applied both in the clinic and via telehealth engagements, making them the go-to provider in their community.

The Osteoarthritis (OA) Action Alliance reports that 32.5 million Americans experience osteoarthritis with total financial burdens reaching $136 billion annually. Lower extremity surgeries including hip and knee joint replacements, ACL, and arthroscopies comprise the majority of orthopedic surgical cases. With regard to knee osteoarthritis, studies have revealed that conservative approaches are often equally, if not more, effective than surgical interventions. In addition, Tai Chi is equally effective as physical therapy in alleviating knee pain due to OA. Current research also reveals the broadineffectiveness of long-term pharmaceutical approaches and strongly suggests that successfully treating the multifactorial nature of chronic osteoarthritis pain requires an integrative, holistic approach.
Tai Chi is a widely recognized mind-body modality and non-pharmacological approach to treating chronic pain conditions. This highly insightful 2-hour course has been designed to outline the scientific and physiologic basis of key Rehabilitative Tai Chi components, instruct simple Tai Chi practices shown to be effective in rehabilitating knee pain and dysfunction, and review the evidence base for validatingRehabilitative Tai Chi in the treatment of patients dealing with chronic knee and lower extremity pain.

Over 127 million Americans seek complementary and integrative health care services annually and the most successful clinicians know that meeting this growing need offers a huge advantage in generating additional revenue in clinics as well as providing superior quality care. Today's most valuable rehabilitation professionals must have the knowledge and capability to leverage multidimensional aspects of their client's experience to engender faster and more complete results. This highly engaging course will giveparticipants practical body mind assessments and effective myofascial release strategies that can be immediately applied both in the clinic and via telehealth engagements, making them the go-to provider in their community.

The CDC reports that, "each year, 3 million older people are treated in emergency departments and over 800,000 patients are hospitalized because of falling, resulting in about $50 billion in medical costs related to non-fatal fall injuries and $754 million spent related to fatal falls." In older adults, falls are the leading cause of traumatic brain injuries and fractures. While physical injuries associated with unintentional falls are well documented, the psychological costs are less obvious and more persistent. Studies reveal that up to 50% of peoplewith a fear of falling restrict or eliminate social and physical activity because of that fear. Presently, the combination of an aging population, shrinking third party reimbursements, and Medicare non-payment for hospital related falls and traumas guarantees that cost effective and high return on investmentservices will become of increasing value.
This interactive 6-hour course offers participants the opportunity to experience thepractice and principles of Tai Chi as they apply to balance and functional rehabilitation. Upon completion, attendees will have new, effective, evidence-based, and insurancereimbursable treatment tools that can be immediately employed with clients resulting in improved functional outcomes, higher program compliance, and greater patient satisfaction.

The National Institutes for Health reports that 25.3 million Americans live with chronic pain, while health economists estimate that the cost of chronic pain in the United States is $635 billion annually. According to the authors of Economic Evaluations in Shoulder Pathologies: a Systematic Review of the Literature, "Shoulder disorders occupy a significant and growing proportion of musculoskeletal care. chronic shoulderpain is reported by 18.3 million persons aged 18 and older, and is the third most common musculoskeletal complaint afterspine and knee pain.48" Current research is revealing the broad ineffectiveness of extended pharmaceutical approaches and strongly suggests that successfully treating the multifactorial nature of chronic pain requires an integrative, holistic approach. Tai Chi is a widely recognized mind-body modality and non-pharmacological approach in treating chronic pain conditions. This highly insightful 2-hour course has been designed to outline the scientific and physiologic basis of key Rehabilitative Tai Chi components, instruct simple Tai Chi practices shown to be effective in remediating neck and shoulder pain, and review theevidence base for validating Rehabilitative Tai Chi in the treatment of patients dealing with neck and shoulder dysfunction.
