Additional Information

With handwriting no longer being considered a primary subject in school curricula, children with special needs areoften left behind. Their motor skills require special attention to ensure the supportive success and increase their ability to participate within the academic environment. Through targeted therapeutic activities, occupational therapists caninfluence neuroplasticity and enhance their visual motor skills to effectively develop the confidence necessary to perform handwriting-related activities. This course will present practical and engaging opportunities to create sessions thatchildren will enjoy, which produce measurable results. Attendees will also learn practical assessment strategies tocollect data and demonstrate creative ways to influencehandwriting performance for use in the clinic the next day.

the captioning was incorrect, which was distracting for me. only 1-2 of the test questions appeared in any aspect of this course!

i thought the discussion of the homunculus and the idea to share this with teachers was an excellent idea. i also enjoyed the research presented on different handwriting programs.

this course could also be applicable to patients with parkinson's disease.

i felt i knew 95% of this information. it would've been helpful to have more actual activities to do with students that still continue to struggle with handwriting instead of going over again the parts of the brain test, etc. things that experience ot already know. it is frustrating because when i take these courses, i feel like the same information is repeated over and over again. especially information about understanding and considering the whole child and the aspects of their environment, etc. of course we do that as therapist and i explain this over and over valuable time that could be given to us where we taught new actual treatment techniques.
