Leveraging Technology to Scale Your Practice: A Deep Dive into Telehealth & More

In today’s fast-paced world, technology is integral in all industries, especially in health care! There are numerous reasons for this increasing utilization of technology, including staffing shortages, reductions in cost with telehealth services, and improved ability to provide services to rural communities.

Due to the current and ever-growing demand for remote and telehealth services, several economical and HIPPA-compliant applications are available! Let’s explore some of the current options for offering telehealth services!

  1. Doxy.me stands out with its fully integrated, customizable telehealth platform, available for a single-user permit at an affordable $ 35 per month. This cost-effective solution could be a game-changer for your practice.
  2. Amwell.com offers a versatile platform that allows you to seamlessly provide onsite and telehealth services to your clients. This hybrid approach could be the perfect fit for your practice.
  3. If you need a smartphone HIPPA-compliant option, Doximity’s Dialer Pro could be your go-to. This cost-effective solution, priced at $ 238 per year, was designed to enable clinicians to offer telehealth services.

Other than providing telehealth services for evaluation and treatment, what other options are available for scaling your practice? Well, I am glad you asked! How about ergonomic assessments for small businesses and private clients? Many practices do not realize that you leverage your skill set as a therapist to offer this service! Ergonomic evaluation and assessment are valuable tools to clients who work from home as well as businesses to decrease the cost associated with employees becoming injured at work! Let’s look at the potential cost of workplace injury!

  1. In the United States, in 2019, economic injury cost approximately 4.2 trillion dollars (Peterson et al., 2019).
  2. Of the 4.2 trillion-dollar cost, 327 billion was used to cover medical expenses (Peterson et al., 2019).
  3. An additional 3.8 trillion dollars was attributed to loss of quality of life (Peterson et al., 2019).

As we can see, ergonomic evaluation and assessment are valuable ways to scale and grow your practice! You can also utilize ergonomic training onsite for local businesses to educate the owners and employees on topics such as appropriate body mechanics, risk reduction, risk stratification, and appropriate conditioning activities to better prepare them for their occupational roles and decrease injury risk!

Regardless of your approach to scaling your business, technology offers almost unlimited options and avenues to improve your outreach! Whichever option you choose, telehealth and/or remote services, one of the best side effects is the increased freedom to work from anywhere and not be tied to a single location! I am including some pictures from my recent travels in the Caribbean while I was “working.”
