In the United States, it is estimated at least 150,000 children utilize a mobility device and many of them will receive therapy services during their life. Clinicians working with children who have or may need a mobility device should have a basic understanding of the needs and process of obtaining one. This course will review basic concepts of equipment and principles when recommending equipment. The course will provide strategies in determining wheelchairframes and accessories as well as seating components. After completing this course, the clinician will be able to participatein mobility evaluations and recommendations with the involved team.

it was a good basic course

i think it would have been beneficial for her to blend video into the presentation for the evaluation and positioning and the case studies. i also think it would have been beneficial for the instructor to include samples of how one would document parts of a wheelchair related to function.

the presenter was knowledgeable and demonstrated a good overview of pediatric seating. i thought there would be more emphasis on particular seating modifications for certain impairments. there seemed to be missed opportunities to incorporate video and pictures.

i believe this course went over very introductory information that i learned in ot school but not further information such as when lateral trunk verse lateral hip supports or what would be best to fix various aysmmetrical abnormalities
