Hippotherapy
Price:$99.99
Around 460 BC, Hippocrates wrote about the benefits and natural exercise being on horseback provides. However, it wasn't until the 1960's that it started to gain public attention in the US. Currently, animals have been making more of a place for themselves in the healthcare arena. Horses included. Hippotherapy is a treatment strategy exclusively utilized by licensed physical, occupational and speech therapy practitioners. During this treatment, a client is properly paired with equine movement to encourage and improve the client's motor output. This is done by pairing the integrated movement patterns of the horse with that of the client.Performed properly, hippotherapy can result in 5,000 repetitions in 5 minutes. This increased efficiency yields demonstrably improved results when compared to traditional therapeutic modalities.

this was a good basic course. i'd participate in a more in depth look at hippotherapy which would allow increased understanding of how to build a treatment session, assess movement, and provide problem solving.

there were word captions at the bottom of every slide that moved quickly but did not match what the instructor was talking about at the time. it was very distracting. some of the things in the word captions were never talked about in the video. i did not know if i should listen or read at times. i also think that these questioners should be given after the written test. i may think i understand what i just listened to but sometimes i find after reading the test questions that i didn't understand as well as i thought i did.

i wish it had been clarified that it was geared towards pts, addressing primarily physical outcomes. there is a lot that can be done in hippotherapy sessions that aren't mounted.
