Neurological differences are people differences. All too often clinicians approach clients thinking about a diagnosis instead of thinking about the person's interests, strengths, and potential skill contribution to society. Career development and independence in adulthood can be reinforced by all stakeholders in the life of a teen/young adult including rehab professionals. Learn a new model for interacting through collaborative coaching. This course will provide more than just treatment plans for teen/young adults in outpatient therapy. Participants will build a relationship with young adult patients that reinforces, empowers, and turns autonomy back into the hands of our youth for their future. We will go over assessment tools for this population and discuss concepts tohelp improve job retention and attainment for young adults with learning differences. 85% of young adults who are Autistic are unemployed or working part-time positions that do not align with their career interests. Learn what you can do as a clinician to change this statistic.

the title of this ce does not match materials specifically discussed in this course. disappointed with the material provided. this gave an "overview to the concept of coaching" but did not actually provide strategies or interventions, other than a couple assessments (which she stated she doesn't even like to use). overall, i feel like this was a waste of time

i think it would have been helpful to compare\/contrast the traditional clinical model of seeing patients with autism and how shifting to a coaching model is more effective. i wish that the example case studies were explored more.

for me, this was an easy introduction to the concept of a coaching mindset for rehab therapy. the presenter was great at knowing her audience, trying to give examples of that pertain to the outpatient pt clinic.
