Additional Information

In 2020, the National Safety Council reported 36,508 older adults aged 65 and older died from a preventable fall.During the past 10 years, the number of older adult fall deaths has increased by a staggering 59%. Collaborative care focused on ameliorating complications while proactively addressing chronic disease management can effectively impact the preventable pandemic of injurious falls. This workshop is designed to enhance the health care professional's "rehab awareness" regarding the detection and analysis of the factors predisposing the patient's level of risk and what actionable steps can be implemented to address the hazard.

Tools utilized to assess risk will be explored. Case study scenarios will challenge the participant to synthesize multiple clinical factors in making best practice decisions. Upon completion of this course, the participant will have a greater understanding of, and proficiency in, the practice of rehab awareness, a skill necessary in navigating the risk of falls.
