Additional Information

By 2030, the cost of falls for the elderly population in the United States may cost over 100 billion dollars. By increasing our awareness of the changes in the geriatric population needs, their impairments, chronic conditions, and the types of falls that occur, therapists can assist in providing patient- centered interventions to provide care for their needs to lower fall risk and to improve mobility in their settings. This workshop will not only offer the tools to identify the types of falls and their associated risk factors; it will create the opportunity for therapists to be the front line in their settings to decrease fall risk while providing care to their patients and increasing their confidence and independence while decreasing their risk for falls.

Highlights

  • Identify the types of falls and how to prevent falls in your setting
  • Decrease falls and prevent mobility declines in your setting to assist in decreasing social isolation and mortality

this webinar remained on topic ad provided useful information. however, the presenter read every single slide verbatim and often gave examples over examples on the information of each slide which didn't offer additional useful information. i could have just read the pp slides on my own and gotten nearly the same effect. the presenter seemed knowledgeable but also unprepared. i would not take another one of this person's courses again.

some of the examples of non-modifiable risk factors can in fact be modifiable at times. though i understand the overall point of the three categories of falls.
