Effective Rehabilitation Strategies for Frail Older Adults

Frailty is a syndrome where older adults are unable to cope with stressors. In the U.S. between 4-16% of adults 65 years of age or older are frail. This number will only increase as the population ages. Physical Therapists working with these patients need to understand the condition of frailty and be able to design exercise programs to progress these patients to optimal health and function. This course will teach assessment and treatment considerations when working with the frail elderly population. Participants will explore the most effective treatment programs based on functional ability andcomorbidities. At the conclusion of this course, therapists will confidently work with this patient population to improve outcomes and quality of life.
