The Impact of Functional Tasks on Independence

Over the last decade incorporating functional tasks into rehabilitation sessions has been deemed best practice. Current evidence strongly demonstrates that patients participating in functional tasks are more engaged and demonstrate larger functional gains. There is a strong link in current evidence amongst functional task participation and functional independence. This course will highlight current evidence confirming the need for functional tasks in occupational, physical, and speech therapy sessions. Examples of functional tasks for all patient diagnoses will be provided. Participants will leave with a toolbox of functional tasks to readily incorporate into therapy sessions.
