Why do our most motivated patients always seem to progress better than our less motivated ones? How does the way neurons bind and strengthen connections impact how we learn, improve, and succeed with motor tasks? What can we do to better engage this system and help our patients to improve faster with long-lasting results? Over the past decade, research into neuroscience has revolutionized how we think about the nervous system and how it adapts to new challenges. This new information can have a direct impact on how we, as therapists, can mold not only our interventions, but also our interactions with patients to maximize learning and neurological recovery. This course will review thecurrent state of evidence in neuroplasticity and outline therapeutic interventions that capitalize on our nervous system's ability to grow and change.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants
