There is a need in the work of skilled physical and occupational therapy to further improve knowledge of pharmacology as it pertains to individuals with progressive neurological disorders. There is a wealth of research on differing types of drugs to treat both Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis, yet we do not have research or guidance to apply this to real world plan of cares in skilled PT and OT treatments. By enhancing our knowledge of thepharmacology used with these unique patient populations, we can better individualize plans for each patient and assist with improving level of function and independence as well asquality of life.
This continuing education course will bridge the gapbetween pharmacological and functional treatments in progressive neuromuscular disorders. This will be a dynamic course with up to date, evidenced-based research on how to directly apply to your daily practice. The principles learned in this course will elevate your ability to assist with improving independence in individual occupations, mobility, and quality of life. Additionally, we will move through the continuum ofcare for individuals with progressive neurological disorders to include improving function, maintaining current level of function, and finally, compensation strategies.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants
