Research confirms that yoga can assist in regulating blood glucose levels, maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system, and increasing alertness. (Stephens, 2017) As yoga gains popularity for its health and exercise benefits, healthcare practitioners have begun to incorporate it into rehabilitation. Much of the current evidence for yoga is demonstrating significant benefits for the neurological patient. These benefits include fatigue management, anxietymanagement, tone management, and improved proprioception and balance. As the evidence continues to grow supporting mind-body techniques, rehabilitation therapists are charged with incorporating them into their practice.
This course will review current evidence supporting the incorporation of yoga poses, or asanas, into a rehabilitation program for the neurological patient. Yoga asanas (postures)will be introduced with adaptations available for varying patient levels. Low-cost and easily available props to aide in alignment and participation will be recommended. All asanas can be incorporated into any setting immediately with effective results.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers

i would have liked more videos of the poses instead of pictures to know how to get into the poses and how to hold them and where the body parts were throughout.
