Additional Information

Using yoga in the geriatric setting is a promising approach to enhancing overall well-being among older adults. Incorporating yoga into geriatric settings can be a valuablestrategy to augment the health and well-being of older adults. With proper guidance and modifications, yoga can provide a safe and effective means to advance physical and mental health in this population. This course will offer instruction on how to take 10 yoga poses (asanas) and offer modifications using props to aid in: improving flexibility and strength, postural control, breathing techniques, anxiety management, mindfulness and internal focus, social interaction, offering a safe environment, adaptability, holistic approach, and research support.

Yoga approaches can be tailored and applied in individual and group treatment sessions depending on the demands of our patients. Whether the treatments occur in supine, seated, or standing postures, all patients can benefit from the poses and accompanying breathing patterns to bring awareness to self and environment. By the end of this course, you will be able to take these poses and have several ways to modify all to be specifically tailored to the needs of their patients, regardless of the clinical setting.

this lady is not a very good teacher%3b this course was painful to watch at times. i am sure she is a nice person and a good therapist, but she should probably stick to treating patients.

utilizing another person to control camera- would have been beneficial to zoom in\/out to maximize capturing positions. mirror at end was a great idea, but secondary camera person throughout would have been ideal.

presenter had difficulty demonstrating poses where we could see the whole body. perhaps she should include video slides or have the camera set up differently.
