Additional Information

In these times of changing health care, it is common to have less time/visits with our patients. The challenge to the clinician is continuing to provide excellent quality care, assess problems, and meet goals within this new clinical environment. Analyzing movement patterns is an excellent tool in determining problems and optimizing functional outcomes. Movement analysis is a crucial component of any rehab program, but proficiency requires practice. This course is designed to provide the clinician practice to augment their ability to provide proficient movement analysis. Detailed anatomy review is incorporated into this course as the participant looks at examples of exercises and functional activities from the vantage point of the muscular system. Video examples will be a primary teaching method in this program.

Highlights

  • Practice 25 movement analysis scenarios when performing a truck and gait analysis
  • Optimize movement analysis skills into your practice through practice case studies and video examples

breaking down the videos %26 analyzing the actions\/muscles was extremely helpful. adding images on the gait video %26 color coding them was brilliant! i really enjoyed the discussions of how varying the exercise targets different strategies %26 muscles as well. thank you!

this course was very entry level. though perhaps some therapists might have a hard time identifying muscles that are engaged with a movement and it's important to understand the normal movement in order to assess an abnormal movement, this course would be more valuable to me if it addressed abnormal movement patterns and determining treatment and deciding which muscles to strengthen based on the abnormal movement pattern. occasionally i disagreed with things the presenter said, such as that the ta is used to bear down when my understanding is that bearing down happens when the core stabilizers including the pelvic floor (which fires so closely with the ta) disengage. use of videos was good, but faster movements are missed on the course video.

the title of the course didn't match it's content. i took course a, which was fair. this course however was very disappointing. this material is at a student level not that of a practicing clinician. the videos didn't show the entire body moving. the movement analysis for the last half of the course was absent. it could have been much better but unfortunately it was absent. the information about gait wasn't necessary because the course wasn't about gait- it was about exercise. the course spent too much time in the weeds of muscular anatomy and not "putting it all together" which was what the title said the course was about. the case studies were poor and appeared thrown in. they could have been so much better.
