Research suggests that up to 38% of the general population has an Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder (OMD). Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders are atypical, adaptive patterns of the orofacial mechanism in response to suboptimal cranio and dento-facial development. These disorders can affect individuals across the lifespan and can have negativeconsequences on overall health. Since they are a multifactorial problem, intervention requires an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach. In this course, rehab professionals will learn the causes of OMDs, how to identifysigns and symptoms, consequences of untreated OMDs, andthe essential role they play in optimizing their patients' airwayhealth.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Speech-Language Pathologists

the presenter was very knowledgeable about the topic, but sometimes she communicated too much detailed information that was not listed on the slides. sometimes it was difficulty to comprehend.

this is a lot of information to convey in a 2 hour session. bullet points for topics and important points and additional sessions to for related topics,i.e omd related to dysphagia etc would be helpful.
