Additional Information

This course will provide an overview and background on the role of traditional inelastic taping (e.g., McConnell taping techniques) and various forms of elastic taping using kinesiology tape for de-loading/facilitation/inhibition strategies. There will be a review of the relevant literature produced in this area with an emphasis on lower extremity conditions that are most suited for the use of therapeutic taping including patellofemoral pain syndrome, lower extremity swelling/lymphatic drainage, Achilles' tendonitis, knee osteoarthritis, foot overpronation, and myofascial trigger points.

Through an integrated format of evidence-based findings and video demonstrations, attendees will be able to apply specific taping protocols that can be quickly integrated into practice. Kinesiology tape can be a valuable clinical tool used in conjunction with other treatments and modalities to have immediate positive effects on movement and performance, while reducing pain and improving clinicaloutcomes for patients, clients, and athletes. Attendees will be guided through clinical options for taping techniques to apply the next day in their clinic. Participants will be able to immediately use taping strategies for their patients using techniques based on recent literature.

including kinesiotex tape as the original tape by dr. kase. also, prep the skin, prior to kt taping, coloplast (dabber) is very helpful. protects skin, stays on better, and easier to remove the tape without skin tearing or irritation.
