Chronic disease in the US alone costs a staggering 3.7 trillion dollars per year, with major contributions coming from chronic pain, cardiovascular issues, COPD, and cancer. Clinicians that know how to effectively help their patients manage the impact of post-traumatic stress are literally holding the keys to chronic disease amelioration in their hands.

This 3-hour interactive course will teach attendees the underlying links between trauma and chronic disease, as wellas immediately effective trauma-informed screening and application tools. Through hands-on labs, students willpractice biopsychosocial interviewing skills and evidence- based trauma-sensitive mindfulness strategies specifically to stabilize the nervous system, reduce re-traumatization, and promote healing. Following this seminar, clinicians will have the knowledge to identify underlying post-traumatic symptomology, effectively educate their patients on why theyshould care, and confidently guide them to improved self- empowered outcomes in the treatment of their chronic conditions.

some good information. it is interesting to think about possible connections between my patient's trauma and pain conditions. the instructor is a founder of the somatic coaching academy and does have a professional stake in the content--i think he mentioned this.

i am so happy to see that the mind\/body connection has made it to physical therapy practices. 30 %2b years ago, many of us saw the need but the resistance was overwhelming and many of us had to slide these techniques into our practices. they worked so much better than "traditional" pt. we still have a long way to go but so glad to see these classes.
