Amanda Koenning, PT, DPT, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics Physical Therapy, graduated from The University of Texas- Medical Branch in 2015 with her doctorate in physical therapy. Dr. Koenning then pursued an orthopedic residency program at Harris Health and graduated in 2016. Dr. Koenning then went on to become board certified in orthopedics in 2016. She then worked at Harris Health in the outpatient physical therapy department for 2 years where she was faculty and a mentor for the orthopedic residency program. In 2018, Dr. Koenning began working at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the outpatient department. She has since spearheaded multiple projects including creating protocols for Total Shoulder Arthroplasty and Head & Neck Cancer; creating a journal club and grands rounds; teaching in-services including topics related to breast cancer and shoulder dysfunction, SIJ dysfunction, manual therapy in the oncology setting and scapular dyskinesia in the head & neck population. Dr. Koenning is currently working on a quality improvement project to determine the appropriateness of referrals to the emergency department within an oncology setting. She is also a continuing education instructor where she has presented "Upper Extremity Neuropathies in Oncology" and had two case study posters at CSM 2025. She is an active member of APTA and TPTA as well as a part of the oncology section and oncology residency sig.
