

Carrie Loughran, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a clinical instructor creator, and director of the iREAD programs in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Central Florida and has been a practicing clinician with expertise in written language disorders for over twenty-five years. She has created and developed six intensive reading programs at the UCF Communication Disorders Clinic to target emergent and conventional literacy skills for neurotypical and autistic children with dyslexia, mixed oral and written language disorders, and reading comprehension disorders. She has been published in the Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups and has presented for numerous private and public-school systems and conferences about the speech-language pathologist's assessment and treatment of written language disorders. Ms. Loughran has been trained in multiple intervention programs including the Lindamood Phoneme- Sequencing Program (LiPS), the Wilson Reading System, Lively Letters, The Barton Reading and Spelling System, and more. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (FLASHA), and the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). She is passionate about addressing the impact of oral and written language disorders on the lives of children in our country and around the world using research-based practices to assess and treat reading, spelling, and writing disorders.
