Melinda Butler Henderson

OTR/L, OTD, BCPA, QCP

Dr. Melinda Butler Henderson, OTR/L, OTD, BCPA, QCP, has been an instructor for Summit Professional Education, since 2016. In addition to creating more than a dozen CEU courses, she has developed blogs, podcasts, and "Lunch & Learn" workshops. She also serves as an occupational therapy consultant for Summit, ensuring that all CEU activities meet AOTA accreditation standards. As a licensed occupational therapist with nearly two decades of clinical and leadership experience, Dr. Henderson channeled her passion for productive aging to found Therapy Strategies Plus, PLLC, a consulting firm focused on advocacy and education for seniors and their caregivers. Her work in this space over the past decade includes the development of senior care DVDs, published articles, and community workshops in her "Parenting Your Parent" Series. Full-time, Dr. Butler serves as Chief Development Officer at BenCura Incorporated, a full-service rehabilitation management company specializing in collaborative therapy services in a variety of healthcare settings across urban, rural, and critical access areas. As CDO, she leads initiatives in learning and development, business growth, and program innovation, helping partners with PDPM optimization, enhancing quality measures, Five-Star ratings, and survey readiness. A previous Director of Rehabilitation for nearly 18 years, and Board- Certified Patient Advocate, Dr. Henderson actively participates in legislative advocacy with a commitment to patient-centered care. A public servant at heart, she serves on the board of the Frankie Mae Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting caregivers of aging adults. Dr. Henderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Nebraska and a Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University. She is dedicated to advancing equitable care for older adults while empowering caregivers and clinicians through education, and innovation.
