Samantha Becker

Samantha Becker, MS OTR/L has over 16 years of experience working as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings including mental health, pediatric outpatient, public schools, early intervention, and non-public schools. She currently works in a non-public school in Maryland supporting autistic students and students with similar needs from kindergarten to age 21. Samantha has facilitated parent support groups, parent trainings, and child playgroups. She has developed sensory environments to support increased access to educational programing during the development of a new school program. Samantha has received specialized training in social emotional development through the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL). She has training in coaching, Routines Based Interviewing, Conscious Discipline, and Professional Crisis Management. She sat on the OT/PT Steering Committee with the Maryland State Department of Education from 2016-2023 and sat on workgroups to update the Maryland State Department of Education OT/PT Guide to Practice and a Social and Emotional Behavioral Health workgroup to develop resources for practitioners working with students birth-21. Samantha is completing her post-professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate with Towson University. Her capstone focuses on supporting interdisciplinary collaboration between occupational therapists and behavior analysts to support the challenging behavior of autistic students.
