Emotional regulation challenges affect up to 30% of school-aged children, influencing academic performance, adult and peer relationships, and self-esteem. Research emphasizes that meeting children's emotional, learning and sensory needs is foundational. Supporting self-regulation enables higher-order cognitive skills such as executive function, attention, and problem-solving, leading to academic success and enhanced self-esteem.
This workshop, led by Dr. Carol Leibovich-Mankes, anoccupational therapist and parent/teacher coach, provides understanding of the Polyvagal Theory, Zones of Regulation® framework, sensory modulation and learning tools, trauma-informed strategies, and Dr. Carol's EEL personal intervention framework. Participants will be introduced to strategies and case examples that can be applied immediately in schools, clinics, and homes to promote resilience, engagement, and long-term success.
