Solutions for Challenging Behavior
Price:$139.99
It is estimated that up to 15% of children are labeled with emotional and behavioral disorders, with up to 85% of children with developmental disorders exhibiting challenging behaviors. Adults who work with children are tasked daily with managing problematic behaviors that interfere with the child's relationships, learning and daily task participation as well as their ability to benefit from skilled interventions. Understanding the causes of these behaviors and using achild-centered perspective to influence behaviors allows the practitioner to avoid power struggles, reduce task avoidance, increase participation in therapeutic activities, and improve overall functional outcomes of therapy as well as educate and support caregivers on strategies for effective use in the home and community.
This course will present a client-centered perspective ofbehavior and provide participants with a structured problem-solving method that generates practical and easy to implement solutions to reduce or eliminate challenging behaviors. Participants will improve their skills for analysis ofbehaviors, learn how to identify strengths-based strategies that are more likely to be successful, and be able to implement practical solutions the next day that have animmediate effect on their client's behavior and participation.
DISCLOSURE: This presentation will focus exclusively on the STEPS for Development (SFD) Problem Solving Approach and will not include information onother similar or related assessments, products andservices.

very misleading objectives towards intended audience. teacher too biased and unable to separate personal opinions. i took a day off work and missed several meetings to attend this course and feel like my time was wasted and i was mislead. great concept, wrong teacher.

i felt the overall material was opinion based and i interpreted most of the information provided blamed adults for a child's behavior. the course would be more applicable to behavior specialists and social workers. i do not feel the information was not directed toward pt's and ot's. unfortunately, in a school setting, the schools do not have the tools to implement strategies in the same fashion as a private outpatient practice.
