the instructor was a good teacher of the content. in my opinion, there was a little too much self-promotion of her other classes and book which took the class off topic frequently.

i went into this knowing sensory diets have limited evidence. however, i was disturbed by some of her comments about the effectiveness. she mentioned that it can eliminate medications. i looked and cannot find any research that supports that claim in her own bibiliography and online. she also brought up weighted blankets as doing no harm. this is not true, there is many contraindications for using a blanket, and there as been at least 2 deaths with children. lastly, she suggested photocopying sensory diet cards to distribute for sensory diets, which is in violation of the copyright of those cards. i would expect a course for continuing education promoted by summit would have a highter standard.

would like more specific ideas on how to use sensory tools. alot of times it was stated, you want to increase or lower their arousal level but was hoping for more specific ideas.
