Spinal cord injury rehabilitation is something that can strike fear into even experienced therapists. Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) have unique challenges to overcome to successfully return to a functional and meaningful lifestyle, and often begin their recovery journey severely debilitated and nearly helpless. Fortunately, most can learn the motor skills to return home successfully, but they require specialized training and education to do so.
This course is designed to provide you the tools and knowledge you need to optimize the functional recovery and rehabilitation of patients with SCI, regardless of the level or severity of injury. Participants will learn not only what skills these patients need to learn, but how to teach them in an effective manner using the appropriate equipment and tools. Participants will also gain an understanding of the multiplecomplications and potential pitfalls that these patients cansuffer and how to best avoid them through both training and focused patient and family education. By the end of this course, participants will feel confident that their patients havethe knowledge, skills, and equipment they need to reenter society and move forward with success and confidence.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants
