Additional Information

Physical and Occupational therapists regularly evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity neuromusculoskeletal pathologies. Peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes are difficult to identify because symptoms are often vague and mimic other neuromusculoskeletal pathology. Neurodiagnostic testing and advanced imaging for entrapment neuropathies are not always necessary or beneficial. Evidence suggests most entrapment neuropathies resolve with non-operative treatment. The exact incidence ofentrapment condition or injuries requires more research, butthe upper extremity accounts for greater than 80% of the total. Nerve entrapment neuropathies or injuries can beacute, trauma, or chronic in nature.

This course will review indications and benefits of integrating nerve flossing techniques with a variety of patient conditions. Participants will learn entrapment conditions involving axillary, suprascapular, medial, radial, and ulnarnerve regions. Additionally, information in how to integratethese intervention strategies to improve outcomes will be reviewed. Current evidence will be utilized for support.
