Providing Skilled Clinical Documentation

As healthcare reimbursement continues to evolve and become more complicated, it is more important than ever thathealthcare professionals remain highly skilled in their ability to document a holistic view of the patient, their plan of care,progress, and outcomes. A comprehensive and accurate document is vital to quality patient care and reimbursement.On October 1st, 2019, the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) was first introduced to skilled nursing professionalswith the intent to focus on quality versus quantity of rehabservices. This reimbursement model improves the accuracy and appropriateness of payments for classifying patients into payment groups based on specific, data-driven patient characteristics, while simultaneously reducing administrative burden. Providing Skilled Clinical Documentation will educate the healthcare professional on the basics of the key elements of skilled documentation, and the importance of utilizing evidenced based tools to support skilled care. In addition, this course will guide the attendee on which items on the Minimum Data Set (MDS) tool are the payment drivers, the healthcare professional's role in the process and what documentation needs to be present to support the patients plan of care.
