Implicit Bias in Healthcare

As a healthcare professional, we are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism in our interactions with patients, clients, families, colleagues, and otherhealthcare team members. However, do we have unconscious biases in our day-to-day interactions with marginalized groups that we come in contact within the healthcare setting? Research shows that we all have biases as this is how the conscious mind process the abundance of information that is presented to us daily. Implicit Bias in Healthcare will assist the healthcare practitioner on identifyingyour own bias, developing strategies to reduce potential treatment inequalities which can impact our patient's healthoutcomes and access to care. In addition, this course will educate the attendee on how implicit bias affects our behavior and assist you in examining your own implicit bias in healthcare as well as, what resources are available to the practitioner.
